Righto, I'm back after a great trip in Hong Kong - more on that later.
In the meantime, I just need to post a load of #100 Happy Days to get myself up to date - I'll add photos at some point!
So in reverse order, starting with today:
Day 91: Day off to recover from jet lag, managed to squeeze in a boiler repair service so no need to take more time off for that!
Day 90: Arrived back in Manchester and it's sunny!
Day 89: Nice meal out with the family. I had posh fish and chips (yes, I went all the way to HK and had fish and chips!)
Day 88: Yummy sushi and a night out with the sisters!
Day 87: Caught up with my uni friend HM and met her husband for the first time.
Day 86: Not happy that my aunt (Dad's sis) is in hospital with kidney problems but visited her and it was great to see that she looked very well and comfortable and will be able to go home soon.
Day 85: Day out with my aunt (Mum's sis) and my cousin who could be heading over to Canada on a research gig.
Day 84: Walked my niece to her school bus...in shorts and wellies!
Day 83: Met up with my friend from uni 'Dr Ho'
Day 82: Slept through a really rough ferry trip, where they were handing out sick bags!
Day 81: Scored 166 in ten pin bowling and also saw the 'House of Dancing Water' show.
Day 80: In Macau, but armed with rain mac and wellies!
Day 79: English breakfast with the family!
Day 78: Full body Thai massage - some bits were relaxing, other bits felt rather painful! And I did find it strange to have someone bigger than me walk on my back... Not one to try at home, kids!
Day 77: Badminton with Nephew #1
Day 76: Sister #3 asked if I wanted a handbag she said didn't go with her outfits. I wasn't about to say 'no'...
Day 75: A good sleep on the plane, before arriving in HK to see all the family!
Kinda like a diary of sorts for a gal who refuses to grow up but who's old enough to know better, likes her beach holidays, beer, gin, WoW, music, working out, reading, footie and nerdy, geeky sci-fi stuff...

#100 Happy Days - Day 7 and Day 8
100 Happy Days - Day 7: My fantasy football team at work qualifies for the quarter-finals in the cup competition!
Ok, so I run the fantasy football league but it's not a fix - I've never won anything before!

100 Happy Days - Day 8: Days are finally getting lighter - it's not pitch-black when I'm leaving to go home! Still think we're due a cold snap at some point though, which I won't mind if it means we have a nice summer.

In a Lifetime
Never thought I'd see this in my lifetime to be honest but yes, a British man finally won the Men's Singles title at Wimbledon - well done Andy Murray, who beat Novak Djokovic in an epic 3 setter.
This gives me some hope that I will see at least one other sporting win:
England winning the World Cup
England winning the European Cup
Liverpool winning the Premier League
Hmm...all pretty much impossible I think!
A scorching weekend, spent most of it in my bikini in the garden.
Need to do a couple of updates, am so behind here.

Girl On Tour
[Long post warning!]
So, I went on holiday to Kos, Greece on my own - no glamorous C, no Boom (who was ok about me going solo).
Daunting for a first timer but I thought what the hell, gotta try it, eh?
The flight from Manchester was full of the 'silver brigade' and no I wasn't booked with Saga holidays - hmm...least no wild partying!
Stayed at the Atlantis Hotel a mile away from Kos Town, all inclusive though inevitably, I didn't make full use of the privileges. And hey, you got a wristband like those you get in festivals!
Anyway, when I got there, was rather shocked, not at the hotel which was lovely but at the mounds of wrinkly flesh on display - old men in Speedos *shudder*! And lady, you really shouldn't be wearing a string bikini at your age! Around 80% of the other guests were German, rest were Dutch or Russian. Only a few other Brits there, not that I was thinking of hanging around them, I was planning on being strictly anti-social!
So I had 7 days of really just going to 3 places - beach, poolside, bar.
Was a bit scary the first night when I realised that I had to bag a table in the restaurant on my own but I got over it and it was fine and I got into a nice little routine.
Apart from a few 'hellos', I didn't have any conversation with a single person all week and you know what, it was quite liberating. I just mooched about doing my own thing, didn't have to think about anything or anyone.
Some women I think viewed me a bit suspiciously, ie was this woman on her own to pick up men? Err, no thanks, keep your fat old husbands/boyfriends thank you very much!
Did I go topless? Yes, but depending on which part of the beach I was, there were accusing eyes from the women and the shifty eyes of their husbands who sometimes even moved their sunbeds for a better view... hey lady but I was at the beach first (before 10am every day!) so if you don't like what I'm doing, go some place else!
Weather was hot with a brisk wind so you didn't feel the need to keep jumping into the sea, which was very choppy, so much so that I didn't dare go very far from the beach and my snorkelling gear stayed in my case.
Kos has a lot of history but did I see any of it? Did I f*ck! The furthest I ventured was over the road to the bar to watch football!
Hotel food was alright, the restaurant run with military precision - the roast beef was divine, nice turkey escalopes; also ate loads of pancakes!
The hotel was immaculate, I left a nice tip for the cleaner never thinking that I'd bump into her but I did as I checked out and she thanked me - I was a little embarrassed!
So no adventures really, although I did nearly hit some woman in the head as I was skimming pebbles in the sea...oops! It was a truly relaxing holiday, short on laffs although I do often laugh at myself!
So would I go away solo again? If I have to be a Billy-no mates, undoubtedly!
Some numbers off the top of my head that I just need to jot down for some reason...
1 - Number of people I saw with an Amazon Kindle
3 - Mosquito bites I got
3 - The floor I was on (and I took the stairs for exercise!)
5 - Number of books I read that week
14 - Number of Doctor Who episodes I watched on my iPod
32 - Number of pebbles/rocks I brought back with me, weighing a couple of kilos...
196 - Number of items of luggage that came before mine when I got back to Manchester airport
304 - My room

The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo*
The past few weeks have been mostly a blur and I need to start sorting things out, sort my life out.
Mum's situation has been on my mind but today, I spoke to her and she gave me the news that she does not need to undergo chemo treatment. When I came off the phone, I wept with relief, it felt like a big cloud had lifted off me.
Summer finally seems to have made an appearance so I took advantage by having a day off work on Friday and sunbathing in the garden. The heat and sun felt lovely after such a long winter. Hmmm...must do something about the weeds though, looks incredibly untidy, especially compared to the neighbours' gardens.
A strange weekend really; Rafa's reign at Liverpool has ended, which I'm not too happy about to be honest - if there was a replacement lined up, fair enough but there isn't. Thanks for May 2005, Rafa.
England have lost their captain before the World Cup has started - hope this isn't an omen of sorts.
* and yeah, I've gone under the needle again. Always planned to after the first one but this is the last one...no really, it is.

Here
Am back - aint no volcano big enough to stop me (although it nearly did).
Got a load of stuff to sort out before I can post properly.
And why is it still like winter, only a little brighter?

Snow Way

At 7.30am, my phone went. It was my boss.
"Don't bother coming in today," he said.
"Pardon?" I croaked - I was just about to haul my arse into the shower.
"Look outside," he said. I looked.
"Oh wow! I can't see my car!"
Apparently 20 people made it into the office and many then had to be towed out of the snow-laden carpark.
I could have been constructive and made use of this extra day off, but no, I ducked back into bed for a bit, did a bit of WoWing and then for the first time in absolutely ages, I made a snowman!
Yep, he's a bit bigger than me!
The snow shows no sign of abating - maybe another day off tomorrow. I shall be organised then... I think! :-)

They Get Worse with Age...
…hangovers that is and I swear I am still suffering from the prolonged after effects from the weekend!
My theory is that when I was younger, since I drank more and also more often, my body was coping with perpetual hangovers all the time so was used to it.
Now, drinking a lot doesn't happen as often so when I do over-indulge, my body is totally rebelling - not good!
So, I waved goodbye to my thirties with lots of wine, cocktails and gin, good food and laughs. Actually, too much wine, cocktails and gin.
On Friday, Boom took me out to Bem Brasil, a Brazilian steakhouse - it was fab. Everyone has these little discs on their tables, red on one side, green on the other. The waiters walk around with big skewers of all types of meat and if your disc is on the green side, they will give you a cut of the meat; if on red, then they know you don't want a slice. I ate a lot that night!
Saturday, met up with the girls at 3pm in Atlas Bar for some wine. The weather was sunny so we were sitting outside, it was very pleasant. We moved onto another bar (apparently…I don’t remember!) and then had a meal in Albert's Shed- I do remember having a lovely tuna salad and also that the glass of red wine that JH spilt did not end up thankfully on my white jeans but ended up over the couple sitting on the table next to us! Amazingly, they were ok about it, but JH was mortified and left them her telephone number in case they wanted to contact her with cleaning bills…
We ended up in Manchester 235 casino and by this point, I'd had so much to drink that I was totally oblivious to the fact that AM and HW had had an argument and were not speaking to each other… Hence I didn't understand why AM left early. But why was I drinking White Russians? Hardly brilliant for the waistline!
Anyway, stayed in the casino with HW, we didn't know what we were doing - at one point thinking we were playing Blackjack when it was actually poker - but we were winning and in the end, we broke even so that's a good night of gambling!
Got a taxi home, crashed out at around 1.30am, all lights left on in the house.
Sunday was a complete washout - I really couldn't get out of bed and all day, all I could stomach was one cup of tea, a bit of water and a couple of slices of toast! My head was banging, even when I was lying down! It's been tough at work this week as I don't think I've quite recovered but well, it was something that had to be done!
Jewellery featured high on the list for presents - I got a lovely bracelet from Boom (which I wore on Saturday and which I checked every 5 mins to make sure it was still on my wrist!), a necklace from the girls, plus some Euros for my hols, a necklace from my mate in Wales, BSG Season 4 boxed set from the boss (wooohoo!) , some flowers from an ex-colleague.
Have got a busy few days coming up - hope I get the time to update!

Oasis and Salvation

I live just over a mile away from the park and could clearly hear the vocals and music (and the crowds cheering and singing along) - the Gallagher brothers sounded good and sang all their classics. Apparently, on the first night, there was a power failure and the band offered a full refund to the people there who had kept their ticket stubs - nice gesture.
Can’t believe how the weather has changed - one minute 25 degrees C, lovely and sunny; next minute, 9 degrees C, raining and cold! Would be nice if we could experience some more global warming in Manchester!!
Anyway, the other night, went to see Terminator Salvation. Had seen this film advertised a few times and you know how sometimes all the best bits are included in movie trailers, so the film itself ends up a tad disappointing?
This certainly wasn’t the case, in fact, I don’t think the trailers did it much justice. I wasn’t really excited about watching this film but I enjoyed it very much and think it’s a great addition to the Terminator franchise (T3 is a bit iffy though). Christian Bale, fast becoming one of my favourite actors (rather easy on the eye too!) was excellent although in parts of the film, he was nearly overshadowed by Sam Worthington. Boom spoiled it for me by whispering about a certain ‘cameo’ performance before it happened but I shan’t say anything here!

Bits and Bobs

For starters, aside from spending far too much time on WoW these days (and nights), I've been involved in the forum shenanigans of MyFootballClub - we vote today on whether we give the manager of our club Ebbsfleet United another contract - I shall vote 'Yes'. Recently, we voted to ratify the prudent budget (playing budget now lowest in the Conference) and I've been involved in an ideas committee for fundraising for the club and MyFC.
Also, the weekend of glorious sunshine meant that I swapped laptop for bikini and I spent a fair few hours in the garden soaking up rays.
Anyway, in the weeks I haven't been posting, I watched Star Trek (I got gold class seats for Boom) - I enjoyed the film more than I thought I would, the casting was perfect as the old characters previously made iconic by Shatner and Nimoy were brought to life with new, younger actors in a cracking movie with great effects, action and storyline - Kirk, I thought was excellent, loved his arrogance and swagger!
So the football season is finally over with Man U crowned champions again - I'm gutted as Liverpool had the title within their grasp but blew it. It was our best season in a long time but still not good enough so I can only say "Maybe next year!"

Work's been really busy, so not really had a lot of time to do my blogging. Time seems to be whizzing by so quickly, a blur of work, gym, WoW and Boom.
It's my birthday soon and I'm not really looking forward to it for various reasons...
Need a holiday and hopefully Boom will get the time off so I can book something to get away.

Stealth by Health
There's a health initiative at the moment going on at work, not because of the swine flu (sorry, I believe the media hype is just to make pharmaceutical companies even richer...) but basically because the company has cottoned onto the fact that healthy employees with good well-being equals less sick days.
I was volunteered by the boss to be the department's 'Health Rep', which basically means attending meetings, a bit of brainstorming and then letting the members of the team know what's going on and pass on ideas and stuff. We're a pretty healthy team anyway - nearly all of us are gym members (and attendees) and we have a tri-athlete and marathon runner amongst us.
The key numbers for this initiative?
0 = zero tobacco
5 = five fruit/veg a day
10 = 10, 000 steps a day
25 = 25 BMI (Body Mass Index) or less
Ooh, nothing about alcohol in there then, but I'm pretty good these days! Anyway, don't smoke, probably manage on average 3-5 fruit/veg a day, no idea how many steps I do a day (not many) and my BMI is around 22.
Like many people, unless I'm meeting up for a natter with the glamorous C, I sit at my desk most days to eat my lunch at work. Not very hygienic or healthy I know but it's what I do. Also, I don't tend to walk anywhere (unless I'm out shopping) - walking to and from my car and walking to and from my desk to toilet is all the walking I do most days.
Yesterday was rather different.
Clad in an oversized t-shirt with Health Rep emblazoned on the back, I went for a jolly 2.5 mile walk around Sale Water Park in sunshine on our first organised lunchtime walk.
The walk was surprisingly invigorating, although at a pace that was a little too slow for my liking.
I'll probably do this again, it was nice to get out, look at the ducks and geese.
Of course, it's possible that our syndicate will win the lotto tonight and I don't have to go to work any more and the next time I walk, it's a stroll on some foreign exotic beach…we can all dream!
Speculate to accumulate, that's how we've justified how much we've spent on tonight's Euromillions…
Someone's got to win it and why not us?

Leeeeeroy Jenkins

Still, it was a nice long weekend, which seemed to fly by at breakneck speed.
Long walks, trips out, cosy time watching DVDs...
We did none of those.
Instead, bar an interval to watch football (me watching Liverpool beat Newcastle on TV at the gym and him going to Middlesbrough to watch Man U maintain their lead at the top) we spent nearly 24 hours gaming on World of Warcraft.
Ok, so it wasn't 24 hours non-stop, not like this gamer, but more like 24 hours spread over the bank holiday weekend, in between numerous cups of tea and coffee, me cooking on a couple of occasions and a quick trip to Tesco to buy stuff for lunch.
Yes, we sound like a couple of sad nerds but hey, it's a hobby like any other hobby or interest - fun and enjoyable!
This hobby does take up a lot of time, I still manage to squeeze in time to read and listen to music but I think what's been sacrificed is time spent flicking the numerous tv channels for something to watch. Most evenings, the tv doesn't get switched on at all, which I'm sure is unheard of in some households.
At some point over the weekend though, we did have The Jeremy Kyle Show on in the background - it seems the programme just consists of DNA tests to prove whether some guy was the father of some poor child. There was one case where the guy was devastated to find that the child that he cared for and paid some maintenance towards (actually, us tax payers pay maintenance for….but I digress) was not his. The expression on the mother's face was that of 'deep thought' - she was trying to work out who else she had been shagging at the time and who could be the child's father - apparently, it could be one of three other men. I wonder if any of these three watched the programme and regretted meeting this trollop…? All of the men must have seriously been wearing beer goggles at the time or registered blind.
Must not go into rant mode…happy thoughts, happy thoughts!

Warmer
Well. Has summer finally arrived in the UK? It appears to have. Whilst not sweltering in temperature, there was a lot of sunshine this weekend, warm enough for me to don my bikini to catch some rays in the garden. Not quite beachside/poolside sunbathing but it was a step forwards and both mind and body felt better for it.
Caught up (on the phone) with my mate MA in Glasgow – not been in touch with her since last August so it was good to catch up on the latest news on her new career, divorce proceedings and her love life – she had me in hysterics!
Boom went down to Wembley to watch Man U vs Everton in the FA Cup semi-finals. Man U lost on penalties – looks like Fergie got it wrong this time, it was arrogant of him to think that his ‘reserve’ team of kids could win. Ok, so it was a draw after normal and extra time but his penalty takers were all left back home! It was hard to know what to say to Boom afterwards – I felt for him cos his team had lost but at the same time, I was happy that Man U had lost!
Anyway, on Saturday, he announced that he was going on holiday with his best mate, a last minute deal – they flew out today. The glamorous C is working away in Portugal this week but I shall catch up with her at the weekend. My mate from work JH is on hols for a fortnight.
It’s going to be a long week for me – maybe I should crack on with some housework and chores. Or maybe I just can’t be bothered.
Crap… I miss him already…

Far Out, Far East
I’m shivering with cold as I write this, can’t seem to get warm. Gone back to work and everything has imploded – feel like a rat on a sinking ship, more on that later – but right now, let me think back on the brilliant holiday we’ve just had in Thailand! **Very long post warning** as it’s a kinda diary of my holiday...
16-17 Oct - Bangkok, Here We Come!
Early morning flight from Gatwick – a good journey with Qatar Airways, transfer in Doha was smooth and quick. I didn’t get much sleep, found it hard to switch my mind off work. Me and the glamorous C chatted about our lives and the situations we put ourselves in – life should be simple, shouldn’t it?! Anyway, we ended up watching the in-flight movie ‘Sex In The City’ – ooh, that guy from the Aero advert was in it (Jason Lewis) – yum!
Finally arrived in Bangkok - impressive transit to the hotel. Slept a couple of hours and then despite being all fuzzy headed, we were determined to get out and check out the city. Weather was cloudy but hot and humid, around 33 degrees C. Traffic and pollution in Bangkok hasn’t changed since I was last here over 15 years ago - still bad. We made our own way to do the Grand Palace tour – beautifully decorated buildings, unusual monuments and statues that must continually be restored to be kept in such pristine condition. Took daft pictures whilst everyone was taking serious shots…
After resting in the hotel, we went to check out Sukhumvit Road, the main shopping street in Bangkok. Ate in an Arabian restaurant (people smoking bongs around us whilst we ate) and then mooched around the market stalls – I picked up some fake Montblanc pens. Took the BTS Sky Train back – nice to try different types of public transport!
18 Oct - Boats, Big Elephant’s Willy, Ping Pong….
Early start for the organised tour, had to rush as we were too busy chatting and taking pics of each other in bed (I don’t know why!?) – the glamorous C received pics of a guy she’s been chatting to which gave her something to ponder on… Anyway, stopped off at a ‘coconut factory’ where they showed how the ubiquitous coconuts/trees were used to make coconut sugar, wooden implements etc.
Next, we took a long tail boat to the Damnoen Saduak Floating Market, which has appeared in various movies. It was interesting to see how people lived right next to the canal but when we got to the actual market bit, wow, brilliant sights of all the boats milling about on the canal, selling stuff from fruit and veg to fake Louis Vuitton bags.
The Rose Gardens were next on the agenda – lovely gardens and lake view, plus an elephant show. Daddy elephant decided to have a pee – the phrase shouldn’t be ‘hung like a donkey’, it should be ‘hung like an elephant’- it was like a fifth leg! There was a cultural show too, so we got to see a bit of Thai boxing, martial arts and dancing.
In the evening, we headed out into the city and ended up in an Irish pub, (what else?) O’Reilly’s – I got to watch some footie (Liverpool beat Wigan 3-2!), we had a coupla beers and a great natter. We stumbled out into the rain (I got very wet!) and the neon lights of Patpong.
Still the same go go bars with bikini-clad and numbered girls dancing, same hawkers thrusting a list of um 'cat' shows - I never looked past the first act on the list: cats with ping pong balls before I turned away laughing! Lots of fake goods available in the market – there was no evidence of the supposed crackdown of counterfeit goods. Very good copies though and the glamorous C picked up Tiffany jewellery…
Took a tuk-tuk back to the hotel, crashing out late.
19-20 Oct - Islands In The Sun and Orgasms...
4.30am wake up call to get our flight to Krabi, which is on the west coast of southern Thailand and only an hour away from Bangkok. When we arrived at Ao Nang, it was glorious sunshine, barely any humidity. Our room wasn’t ready so we just donned our bikinis and headed for the beach which was right next to the hotel! Could see some lovely little islands in the distance. Got our base tans before we were able to rest in our room, which had a verandah that led up to the pool – lush!

In the evening, we just ate in the hotel restaurant, listening to the waves crashing on the beach – doesn’t get much better than that! Walked along the promenade (the glamorous C had picked up a beach mat and she had it under her arm, when a guy pipes up “Nice carpet!” and I said to her “Did he mean your rug is showing?!”), browsing the souvenir shops and then we noticed that behind the shops, there was a little area with a load of pubs and bars! There was the odd go-go bar, old guys with young Thai girls etc but we settled for the Smile Bar, which was showing football and where the staff were really friendly. Downed a couple of Screaming Orgasm cocktails – who’s counting the calories!?
The next day, we walked the length of the beach and took photos, it was scorchio! However, after a couple of hours, there was a rainstorm, which we stayed out in for a bit (yes, sunbathing in the rain!), until we retreated to our verandah with a cold beer. Tan coming along nicely – we were deffo starting to look beach gorgeous! Lovely evening meal of tom yum soup (which I could have all the time) and red curry catfish. Bought my souvenir ring (silver with white shell). Also, it's a small world - I saw a woman wearing the same skirt I was wearing, which I got for a couple of quid from Tesco!
21-22 Oct - Mozzies, Waves, Fake Boobs, More Orgasms
The glamorous C was very busy with texts so just as well I gave her a notebook to start a journal, jotting thoughts, ideas, etc – would make interesting reading! The mosquitoes in Krabi took a liking to her but they then realised there was someone else in the room and started to bite chunks out of me too – both of us got bitten on our bums… the mozzies mustn’t be breast or leg men…. ;-) Anyway, an excellent sunbathing session before it started to rain a bit. Dozed off in the room whilst the glamorous C went on the internet to cause mischief and to read her love poems.
Fab seafood meal in the evening (barbecued tiger prawns) and we bought silver/shell pendants (matched the ring I bought t’other night). Picked up a nice little stripey dress before we went to war on the mozzies, squashing loads before we crashed out.
The next day, we went on our bargain Phi Phi islands tour. A cloudy day and the sea was extremely choppy, garnering lots of screams from the club 18-30 lot who were sat at the front of the speedboat! Our tour guide ‘Lala’ was no lady - funny, outrageously flirtatious, with exaggerated gestures and fake boobs. Couldn’t understand a word he/she said!
Anyway, we checked out the Viking Cave, Phi Phil Leh (gorgeous lagoon) and did a bit of open-sea snorkelling towards Lohsamah Bay. WOW – loads of really colourful fish everywhere, swimming around the finger-like coral reef. The glamorous C spotted a puffer fish and I saw some colouful eel-type fish. There were all sorts – brilliant!
Stopped off at Monkey Cave to feed the monkeys and also Maya Bay, where they filmed the Leonardo Di Caprio film
'The Beach’ – an utterly gorgeous beach with beautiful fine white sand and crystal clear water. Buffet lunch at Phi Phi Don and more snorkelling at Bamboo Island.
We settled down for a spot of sunning and of course, everyone on the boat ended up waiting for us - oops, where did the time go?!
When we got back, I ended up snoozing for 4 hours! I can’t believe the glamorous C didn’t wake me up but she was evidently too busy composing rude/love poems! Proper seafood platter in the evening, comprising of red snapper, king prawns, cockles and crab. Our eyes were obviously larger than our lady-like stomachs as we couldn’t finish all of it! However, we did of course still have room to squeeze in a beer and a couple of cocktails!
23-24 Oct – Phallic Worship, Finding Nemo and Dr No
Early to the beach but it started to rain so we moved to the shelter poolside – a short while later, it turned into an absolute scorcher of a day so we caught some major rays that day! We’ve both read ‘Girl With A One-Track Mind’ whilst out here – bloody funny and a lot we can both relate to, haha!
Went to Potjawan’s restaurant - our 3rd visit so they had our drinks order ready! A nice relaxing day.
The following day, we were up early for our Four Islands Tour. First stop was Phra Nang Cave – some amazing stalactites next to the cave, which is a sacred shrine to a princess but which also appears to be a shrine for fertility. Therefore no-one could possibly blame me and the glamorous C for trying very hard not to laugh at the large wooden phallus symbols everywhere – I took a photo of her with her resting her hand on a five foot tall wooden member!
At Chicken Island, the boat stopped close by and we just jumped into the very warm sea for a spot of snorkeling – again, the sheer variety of fish was just awesome and it was weird but strangely compelling to be in the water
and seeing rain hit the surface on the sea from the fishes’ point of view! And guess what – I found Nemo (two clown fish swimming around an anemone) and was able to point him out to the glamorous C without swallowing too much seawater in my excitement! Yay!
At Poda Island, we stopped for a nice Thai picnic lunch and some shallow water snorkeling – some very nasty looking spiky anemones around but lots of fish milling about.
Our last stop were the lovely beaches of Tup Island, where we took some daft bikini shots, including trying to replicate the Ursula Andress coming out of the sea scene in the James Bond film ‘Dr No’ – I was a rather rubbish but the glamorous C had it down to a T - bitch! ;-)
Rested poolside when we got back and in the evening, ate at the Banana Leaf restaurant - yummy food at yummy prices!
Wandered up the main strip and we were laughing about the glamorous C's latest dalliances, when she piped up that she was 'helping out with emotional needs' - some geezer walking in front of us with a little Thai girlie on his arm suddenly turned round and said 'Well hello!' in true Carry On/Leslie Phillips style! I don't think he was expecting us behind him and he certainly wasn't expecting me to politely tell him to stop eavesdropping on our convo!
Anyway, ended up in the Smile Bar for our usual orgasmic cocktails but also so that the glamorous C could have her nightly internet fix - I've always admired her multi-tasking skills and she's juggling with the best of them right now - me? I could only cope with one at a time!
Shot some pool and crashed out late.
25 Oct – Massage Parlour and White Bits
A lazy day relaxing by the pool, some scattered showers but it was still nice lounging around in the heat. Our last day of any real sunbathing so we made the most of the intermittent bursts of sunshine. In the afternoon, we went for oil massages – mmmmmmm… utterly and totally blissful, it was divine! I didn’t want the masseuse to stop – so this is what totally stress-free feels like!
As there’s been no topless sunbathing this holiday (to respect the local customs), we’ve got white bits and strap lines that we wouldn’t normally have – had a right laugh as the glamorous C came up with her version of the consequences of using fake tan to cover up the white bits – I can see her point but would never have come up with the idea!
Anyway, our last night in Krabi, which we celebrated with some nice chicken satay skewers and a couple of cocktails.
26 Oct – One Night In Bangkok, Cat Tricks, Football and Beer
One final lingering look at the little islands of Krabi and then we were back in Bangkok. Dropped off our stuff and made our way via train and boat along the Chao Phraya river to Wat Arun, the ancient temple. Was amazing, a mixture of old architecture, plus a mish mash of colonial and eastern design. Unfortunately, part of it was closed for security as some Thai royalty was visiting that day.
Back at O’Reilly’s bar again in Patpong to watch the Chelsea v Liverpool game - the glamorous C’s suggestion! I seriously hadn’t expected to catch any football whilst out here but my mate ensured that I got my own little fix and indulgence! An excellent result, the Scousers winning 1-0 to end Chelsea’s four year unbeaten home run and stay top of the league – yay and ha!
Steaming from the beer, we piled out into the night market. The glamorous C was ace at bartering and picked up various bits of Tiffany stuff, a Citizen watch and LV sports bag.
With my tan in place, I guess I can sort of see why people started to speak Thai to me but did they all have to thrust the lists of ‘cat tricks’ in my face as I passed by the bars? This time, we made a point of looking down the list and saw that as well as ping pong, the ‘cats’ also did things like ‘shoot banana, cut banana, something with needles and razorblades, played with snakes, smoke cigarettes, open bottles, write letters and err, BDSM.’ Interesting and could have been a mind boggling way to end our last night in the city but we had to decline! “Five minute, lookie lookie, no pay” just didn’t tempt us, nor the promise of ‘men shows’.
27-28 Oct – Double Take, Double Trouble, Double Entendres
Our last day was spent shopping in the Siam Centre and then catching last minute scorching rays by the hotel pool – yes our bikinis made an unexpected final appearance, kinda surreal surrounded by the Bangkok skyline and temples in the background.
And then we were back in our ‘normal’ clothes to travel back to face the British weather - joy...
At the airport as we were checking in, the lady showing us where to queue did a double take at me – I don’t know why? In fact I noticed this when we were out and about in the streets of Bangkok – I’d have thought that all eyes would be on the tall, blonde and curvaceous glamorous C but no, many people (women mostly) stared at me, - short, dark, look a bit like the locals but obviously not quite - as I walked past, I tried not to get paranoid, I was dressed quite conservatively and thought I would have blended in but somehow I didn’t? They weren’t being hostile – more like bemused and curious?
Anyway, a six hour flight to Doha, a short wait and then we were on our last leg back to the UK. As the flight wasn’t full, we were able to stretch out in the empty seats. Managed to catch a few hours of sleep.
And then we arrived in London where it was freezing and when we got back to Manchester it was even colder. Back to life, back to reality! :-(
Analysis and synopsis (back into work mode already and yes, nearly finished this looooong post!)
So, my second ‘Girls On Tour’ holiday with the glamorous C – different from the first one, longer period, further away. Same as the first one in that it was fun-filled, lots of laughter and great conversation, loads of relaxation. Our first holiday, we spent a lot of time reminiscing about our childhoods and sharing early memories; this time we opened up more about current stuff and more personal experiences.
Again, we both got on, went with the flow, no disputes. We also had time to ourselves so we weren’t like continuously in each others’ hair – her off causing mischief on the internet, me sleeping and reading. Come to think of it, this holiday, I ate, drank and slept far more than she did!
Ok, to spice things up for anyone who’s still reading, we were often in the complete buff, rubbing sun cream on each other and yes, we compared our white bits and dammit, she has a better tan than I have!
All in all, a fabulous holiday, can’t wait to do it all again. Probably not such a big holiday next year but need to arrange something.
And finally a few meaningless words and phrases that will put a smile on my face when I reread this – ‘good bush, bad bush’, ‘my gf, your gf’, ‘miss bitch’, ‘mcdonald’s – I’m lovin it’, topiary, pictures of feet.

Thailand - the land of smiles certainly made us smile! Happy days.

Laters!

Well my bikinis and snorkelling gear are packed and I'm ready to go! EEEEEEEEEE - am so excited!
Off to Thailand now for my long awaited holiday - will be sampling sun, sea, sand, seafood, shopping and sightseeing (but not the usual 's' that's often associated with Bangkok! Least it's not on my agenda...).
I can't stop smiling and it's driving people mad at work! :-)

Sacred Vows
My big sister got married on Saturday! WOOHOO! It was a gloriously sunny day! Us 'bridesmaids' (siblings plus groom's sister F) were all lovely in green and complimented the happy and lovely bride, groom (who wore tartan trews although other members of his family were in kilts) and my oh so sweet nephew in his little suit!
Well, it was a great church wedding, the canon was amusing, we sang some good hymns (practiced 'I Vow To Thee My Country' the previous night ass we couldn't remember the tune - we didn't quite reach the Katherine Jenkins' notes though!)
Great reception, the champagne and wine flowed and us girls did the family proud - first on the dancefloor and last off the dancefloor - we were still there when the DJ was packing up! (I did have to change out of my killer heels later in the night so I could carry on dancing!)
It was great to see other members of the family (although cousin G was awol as he'd forgotten the date and had gone gallavanting off to Poland with his mates...), to catch up with some of the girls from the Center Parcs weekend and to meet the groom's friends and family, who I have to say, were a nice friendly bunch.
As you can imagine, pretty hungover the next day - spent a lot of time napping and when not sleeping, eating....
Said goodbye to the younger sibs - not sure when I'll see them next, sometime next year I guess and there'll be another little niece or nephew added to the family next time I see them.
Back home to rainy Manchester feeling majorly lethargic - far too much food and sleep, I'm not used to it so need to hit the gym big style!

Ray of Sunshine
What with the crap that's going on at work and me being scammed over the Leeds Festival tickets, I'm glad to say it's not all doom and gloom in my life.
I have a mad (and expensive) few weeks coming up with big sister's wedding, my family coming over, the saga of work churning on relentlessly, plus another wedding reception and throw in a couple of birthday celebrations.
But I'm glad I have the glamorous C around me to keep me vaguely sane.
Anyway, we've finally booked our next holiday - we shall be off to Thailand - eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee! Sun, sand, sea, snorkelling, dodgy go-go bars....brill!
We can't wait!

Fubsy
Well, what an utterly fab weekend in Center Parcs! I'm still recovering and for once, it's not from a hangover!
Whinfell Forest in Penrith - what a beautiful place! Fresh air and glorious forest.
So the 8 of us girlies arrived for my big sister's hen weekend - she's done the L plates, blown up condoms and stripogram thing before so this one was to be more 'sedate', with us all older and wiser!
Great accommodation, we were in houses next door to each other. Hired bikes - bear in mind that I hadn't seriously ridden one in nearly 15 years and my feet could barely touch the ground, I was just kinda glad that I didn't have to do any sudden stops so there were no unfortunate incidents of me toppling over sideways! My aerobics classes have given me strong leg muscles so I was probably the only one who could cycle up the hills without stopping but yowch, was I saddle-sore or what!?
Ok, so I wanted to have a go at some things I'd never done before so I opted for climbing and archery.
The wall was a lot higher than I thought it would be, 10 metres (about 30 ft?) but impressing myself since I'm not too great with heights, I climbed to the top 3 times! It wasn't easy, my arms (and legs) were shaking and I only looked down twice.... Can't remember the last time I was this physically exhausted!
The archery was good - I wasn't too bad considering my arms were still rather wobbly after the climbing - hearing and seeing the arrows thud into the targets was very satisfying!
There was a good range of restaurants - first night we had an Italian - good food, poor service; second night a pub dinner - I amazed the girls with my useless general knowledge and we came 4th in the pub quiz out of 26 teams, (we didn't know what fubsy* meant...). On the last night, we had an excellent curry.
A couple of the nights, we just headed back to the house for some drinks and games - Pictionary - bloody hilarious (me and my partner won of course!) - at times, we were crying with laughter and I had a sore throat from all the laughing by the end of the night!
Managed to squeeze in a well-deserved Swedish massage, which really helped my sore muscles. Big sis didn't do any activities (unlike one girl who did 7 or 8 activities - must have cost a bomb!)but treated herself to a facial and spa session.
We didn't have great weather - got caught twice in showers but it didn't matter. Cycling around everywhere was pretty exhilarating, quite tempted to get a bike myself although nowhere I can go cycling back home...
Anyway, I would highly recommend the place - it did help that I got a discount on the accommodation from my gym membership but I would deffo come back again, with or without discount.
When I got back, rested a while, then went out for a couple of drinks and pizza at Dukes 92.
Who with, you may ask?
Ummm...I'll probably write about that another time! ;-)
* Fubsy means 'short' - how they all chortled that the 'short one' didn't get that one right in the quiz!

On and Off, In and Out
Belated but it's been mad at work and I've been pretty zoned out at home to update.
Anyway, had a nice weekend, quiet for a birthday weekend I guess but what I wanted.
Saturday, squeezed in a hair cut and when I got home by noon, was faced with a quandry - it wasn't quite sunny enough to sunbathe yet I didn't want to sit in the house...
So, in my infinite wisdom (since I'm a year older, I should be wiser?), I slipped into my bikini, put t-shirt and shorts over them and did a bit of weeding.
Every time the sun peeked out from behind the clouds, I whipped off said t-shirt and shorts - the neighbours must have been amused!
Anyway, four hours later, I had done a good job in the garden and also nicely topped up my tan! :-)
Sunday, after a quick gym session, met up with the glamorous C for a curry and catch up on news. Not seen her really since her hols to Egypt so we had a lot to chat about -I can't compete with her tan! We went to Jai Kathmandu, a Nepalese curry house, great food, cosy and busy atmosphere.
Anyway, looking forward to this weekend for some much needed frivolities!
