Splash

At the age of thirty"ahem"thing, I've decided that I needed to do something that has eluded me for so long.

I'm good at most sports, being blessed with pretty good hand/eye co-ordination, quite fleet of foot and above average stamina. However, there's one "sport" I was never able to master...

Yep, I decided to finally learn to swim.

Swimming seems to come naturally to most people but for me, my feet are most definitely land-bound. I'm like a mini-Titanic - I don't float. Sure, this 'infliction' has never stopped me from going into the sea on holidays, riding on banana boats, snorkelling etc, but with a life jacket, you can do anything.

I had my first swimming class on Friday and I was a tad nervous and apprehensive. We just did some basic stuff and I was ok with those. I'd forgotten what it was like to get water up my nose and how terrible chlorinated water tasted.

I really want to do this but it's not going to be easy.

  2. I commend you on taking the bull by the horns, or in this case, the fish by the fins. I am not adept at the swimming either but I can manage. I tend to make my rounds of the circumference of the pool by holding on to the pool's edge. :)

  3. I'm not the greatest swimmer in the world I have to say. Only learned when I was in secondary school.

  4. I hated swimming at school. So psycholigically scarred for life that I haven't been near a pool since.

  5. I think it's ace that you are trying to do this. My dad is in his 70's & really regrets having never learned to swim.
    Go Weenie!

  7. Wow, like Thao said, congrats on taking the bull by the horns!

I used to look like I was drowning everytime I went near a pool. I could hardly manage a width before, but three years in Cyprus has definitely improved my swimming!
