Kinda like a diary of sorts for a gal who refuses to grow up but who's old enough to know better, likes her beach holidays, beer, gin, WoW, music, working out, reading, footie and nerdy, geeky sci-fi stuff...

British Pub
It's great that wherever you go around the world, you inevitably find a good old "British Pub", (this includes various incarnations such as Irish Pub, English Pub. Not seen a Scottish Pub though...)
Been going to the Tudor Arms in Stockholm to catch the football - watched the England victory over Uruguay the other night (inspired substitution by Sven, bringing on Crouchie to score the equaliser) and been catching the odd midweek Premier and Champs League game too.
Some nice pub food, good "British" beers including Kilkenny, Newcastle Brown Ale, Old Speckled Hen and of course, Guinness amongst others.
One difference however is that they already have the no smoking policy in this pub (not sure if in all pubs in Sweden or just Stockholm) so I still come out smelling of roses (or just of beer fumes).
Home now and it seems like I've brought the snow back with me...sick of the white stuff.

Yup, it's non-smoking in most pubs, restaurants etc in Sweden. That's why I haven't had much of a reaction to the smoking ban here in the UK. I'm use to it since I grew up in Sweden :)
ReplyDeleteAh the english pub! My stay in Lyon would have been much less fun without the St. James & the Smoking dog. I reckon I watched more footy over there then I do at home.
ReplyDeletePlus I got lucky in the Smoking dog.
English pubs abroad? I salute them all.
I never tried old speckled hen before; is it nice?
ReplyDeleteSame here Flash - I'm watching more footie over here than back at home - hopefully another midweek session for Champions League action!
ReplyDeleteOld Speckled Hen, Kunstamaeker, is quite a nice traditional English ale. I'm rubbish at describing stuff so probably better to check out their website: http://www.oldspeckledhen.co.uk/
Weenie, when my French assignment came to an end they actually offered me 3 months in Sweden.
ReplyDeleteI declined for the sake of the boy.
thanks for the link dear.
ReplyDeleteI wish the pubs in the Houston were no smoking. I stay away because of it.
