Targetted again...

Those no-brainer terrorists were at it again, only fortunately for the hard-working citizens of London, the bombs at the four underground stations seemingly failed to detonate.

I hope the perps are caught soon, although at the back of my mind, I wonder how many other brain-washed individuals there are in our country, willing to kill themselves and countless others in the so-called name of religion?

Will the police now stop and search every Asian wandering around London carrying a rucksack? If it means the infringement of civil liberties for a few but the saving of many lives, then this heavy-handedness may be required.

How soon before they start targetting other English cities?

  1. Gosh I'm a fool - so tell me something new!?

Who cares whether Allah wanted them or not, nobody wants them, they're just sick in the head.

And Thomas Jefferson was an American President? It's argued that an American President's idiotic war on Iraq has made UK a target for these terrorists, so thanks but I won't be checking up on his quotes.

  2. i am a bit inclined to agree with the sentiments of your commentator. I don't want to end up in a society where you can be stopped and searched in the street for "looking a bit shifty". Not at all.

If this means some lunatics are going to carry on trying to blow themselves up, then I am afraid so be it. But I would rather keep my civil liberty intact (as I am sure would the millions of Muslims in this country who abhor these actions as much as we do).

  4. Yeah, hear what you're saying, LB. Guess I'm one of those that finds it hard not to have some sort of knee jerk reaction and then later regret the solution proposed. Story of my life!

  6. Hehe, spot on Herge! I think I'll avoid stuff like this in future and stick to topics that are far more fun to talk about, eg football - not long now til the season starts..WOOHOO! :)

  7. The problem is that on one level it makes sense that increased security measures and civil libertires infringments. But then you read that the fella the cops shot five times, in the head, wasn't actually a terrorist at all, and it was a mistake, or at least that seems to be the news at the moment.

And football and politics do sometimes intersect. What do you think of AC Milan's (I think) decision not to come played in England because of the terrorist dangers?

  8. It's a v tough call - a full investigation's needed for what happened with that guy who was killed by the police. Were they being trigger-happy? But what if he had been a suicide bomber?

AC Milan staying away - who's to say that Italy won't have terrorists too?

Now bombings in Egypt... is there nowhere safe?

Kinda tempting to just stay in bed and hide!

  9. It is a scary time, my friend. I am in London and dreading getting on the tube. It is such a hard call - increased security and less civil liberties. I can live with that, although the shooting of the Brazilian man is scary. Why did he run?

  10. I've heard he ran because he was late for work.
