Hotpot

Ok, I've finally gotten round to starting the eagerly-awaited latest installment in the Harry Potter series, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, the book having arrived on my doorstep, on time, via Amazon a couple of weeks ago (they clearly do not use the Royal Mail...) . I was reading another book at the time so had to finish that one first (ok, so I can't concentrate on more than one book at a time!)

First impressions? A good first chapter, that draws the reader nicely back into the storyline and fills in memory-lapses (in my case) of what's been happening. It also promises to be a lot darker - woohoo! :)

Size-wise, it's not as big as the scary huge tome of The Order of the Phoenix, so hopefully, this will mean less rambling, more story-telling.

Looking forward to getting immersed in some Potter-fantasy.

  1. I bought mine the day it came out. It sat there in the bag for a whole week as I finished off other books. Then I read it all in one day. Well, plus a few hours into Sunday morning :)

  4. You need to hurry up and finish it so you can blog about your thoughts. I finished it already and it's killing me to have to wait again for the next one. I should learn to pace myself. ARGH!

  5. Need to set some time aside for more reading but it's looking good - have only just finished the chapter with Snape promising Narcissa - mouth agog at what he's just done!!! :O

  6. It's a load of wizardy claptrap, I quite spectacularly fail to see what all the fuss is about...

and that makes me a freak, apparently. Go figure.

  7. LB, you Muggle you... ;)

True, HP isn't everyone's cup of tea, but any book that gets so many children (and adults) round the world interested in reading has gotta be good in some way.

  8. No everyone shares all the same interests so why would liking or enjoying certain things or not liking them make a person a freak? So Lord Byron, you may not like HP but you are no freak, unless me not making a fuss about football makes me a freak. Then I guess we're all freaks.

  9. Thaoist - I'm the freak... a female who loves football (and not because she fancies the players...)
