It was one of those situations where I wanted the ground to swallow me up because I wanted to laugh so much and that would have been inappropriate!
For some reason, a colleague of mine has been receiving the odd email that was meant for me, the mail router must have gone kaput. Last week, she received 2 emails that were meant for and addressed to me, yet they were in her In Box. I logged it with helpdesk and didn't think anything more of it.
This morning, she called over that she'd received another of my emails. I shrugged at her and muttered that it had obviously not gotten sorted. She then called out which email she'd received - that of an internal job application I'd made...
The silence in the office was deafening... why - because only one other colleague knew I had applied for another job, no one else did, not even my immediate line manager...oops!
I wanted to laugh out loud, the silence bore down on me like something alive - it was killing me! I immediately mailed my hapless colleague, who was mortified and wished she'd kept her mouth shut but it wasn't her fault, although she could have been a bit more tactful! LOL!
Could I blame my manager for not speaking to me or even looking me in the eye all afternoon? Well, if she insists on having a favourite in the department, then she can hardly blame me for not talking to her about my job application.
I have my interview/chat tomorrow - if I don't get the job, I won't be gutted. But if I don't get it and fat-boy-teacher's-pet gets it, I will be devastated :O
But if he got the other job, he'd be out of your hair, right?
