Was out with the girls yesterday - started early as usual at 3pm at Tiger Tiger in Manchester (The decor has improved slightly. Ok, let's just say it's new) and then there was a little trip to the bookies to put bets on the Grand National.
The horse me and the bf backed, Numbersixvalverde, came in as the 11-1 winner! WOOHOO! The bf also backed the horse that came in 4th, so it was a good day for us.
We had an excellent meal in Chinatown (glad we didn't go for a whole duck...), washed it down with loads of alcohol, liberally sprinkled with a load of laughs.
The weather was miserable, it was cold and wet but the usual dolly-birds in minimal clothing were out in force in town. Is goose-pimpled skin attractive? Probably not noticeable with beer-goggles.
Yates' was full of mutton dressed as lamb - should women over the age of 40 wear mini-skirts? (unless they were in fancy dress or about to play squash?)
We then wandered down for a final one in Edwards' - can't believe we used to think that place was the bees knees. Must be getting old and cynical but everyone had a kinda desperate look on their faces. People-watching is interesting but you have to be careful not to catch their eye...
Left in a taxi at 10pm ish - a good day/night, got the alcohol level just right so my head wasn't so bad today.
Well done on the national, you lucky sod!
ReplyDeleteI just wanted to drop by and say hello. I appreciated the comment on my blog. Thanks again!
ReplyDelete"Is goose-pimpled skin attractive?" -rofl!
ReplyDeleteNice one on the Grand National bet! :-)
Congrats on your winning pick. And as a matter of fact, goose pimpled skin is very attractive. In the dark. And mini-skirts should really have an age limit.
