I think I'm doing some good work here in the Stockholm office.
However, when I leave, if they're going to remember me for one thing, I reckon it'll be for organising their first ever office horse-racing sweepstake.
Such a common-place and "traditional" event in offices around the UK for big races such as the Cheltenham Gold Cup or the Grand National, none of my Swedish colleagues had a clue of what I was talking about, but they embraced the idea with enthusiasm, and it was a nice bit of fun for a Friday afternoon.
The 200 SEK prize to the winner wasn't much but my boss later thanked me for organising it, saying it provided some much needed light-relief and fun in the office.
Now if I'm still here for the World Cup, I could have some serious fun....
That's a way to leave your mark! Making the workplace a fun environment is a tough task and it sounds like people really appreciated the light mood that day.
