Kung Hei Fat Choi!

Chinese New Year today - it's the Year of the Dog. What does that mean? I don't know but apparently it should be a better year for me and the bf.

Usual big family meal last night in Manchester Chinatown.

Another big family meal today (dim sum this time), except Chinatown had been transformed overnight into a mini Blackpool, complete with fairground rides, the usual games where you win goldfish and crappy cuddly toys, stalls selling lots of oriental junk; dragon and lion dancing, firecrackers making your ears pop but most popular were the stalls selling hot noodles (big queues here compared to the hotdog stands...).

The place was terribly crowded, so much so that we gave up after a few hours of playing "sardines" with total strangers and headed home. Bet it was a good day for pickpockets.

  1. You had a much more festive New Year than I did. I was craving dim sum something terrible so i am envious. Thanks for your post, btw. (I have some Chinese sprinkled in.) And nothing is wrong with Hello Kitty, personally, I like Pochaco!
