Well, it's been a long, tiring though enjoyable week.
As predicted, I didn't get to see much of Stockholm, bar a few restaurants and bars. What I did see was good, the people were very pleasant and friendly. Hmm...perhaps a nice European holiday destination in future with the bf.
We didn't eat in any local Swedish restaurants however (so no meatballs!), but sampled Lebonese, Thai, Belgian. As we were eating so late, had to ensure I wasn't going to bed every night with a full stomach. Have deffo put on weight though... :(
On Wednesday, we got back from the office to find that the hotel bar had been cornered off for a private "tennis" party. Ok, people weren't in tennis gear but I guess it was for the guests and friends of the players taking part in the Nordic Light Open - we were staying in the Nordic Sea hotel opposite to the Nordic Light. Everyone got a free tennis ball in their rooms as a souvenir!
We went out for our meal and when we returned, we gatecrashed the private party and got a few rounds of free cocktails. There were fashion models mingling with probably famous Swedish celebrities - we must have just fitted in... (or maybe cos we were being careful not to catch the eye of the security men!)
So, back home in the UK - am glad we were flying direct back to Manchester and not via Heathrow.
A few weeks to recover now before my next journey.
Sounds like it was loads of fun. And crashing the party was very ballsy. Our Swedish project may not go through but if it does it'll be 6 weeks there, plenty of time to experience all the sites and food. I am crossing my fingers.
ReplyDeleteOoh...fingers crossed for you! Six weeks there would be great if you get to see the sights too.
