The British weather tried to spoil the weekend for me (a mixture of rain, tiny bits of sunshine, thunder and lightning) but failed miserably because I put a deposit on my BRAND NEW CAR yesterday! Woo hoo!
The car I'm currently driving is a 6.5 year old Renault Clio, looks a bit jaded and battered (dented door panels from inconsiderate people leaving their shopping trolleys in the supermarket car park, clumsy idiots opening their doors into my car, etc) and in the last couple of years, has been getting more expensive to service. Despite having done nearly 87,000 miles, it's still a good runaround, the engine doesn't sound noisy, it's a comfortable ride and the interior is still in very good condition, the back seats still look newish.
My mum, said she would loan me a deposit for a new car, so hey, who was I to argue? :)
Checked out the latest offers on various super-minis including the Mini itself (too expensive), Citroen C2 (nice but you have to pay for a lot of extras), VW Golf (out of my price range), Ford Fiesta (bit boxy looking) and Toyota Yaris (bit plasticky). I kept coming back to the trusty old Clio and in the end, me and the boyfriend went to the big Renault dealer in Manchester.
I let him do the talking - had it been left to me, I would have ended up on a rubbish finance deal, got a pitiful part-exchange amount for my old car, bought all the extra warranty etc and got no extras. The bf ended up sorting out a great deal on a sporty new Clio- he does come in handy sometimes! :) I've just realised that I actually paid more for my car 7 years ago, although car prices have come down in general.
So....I should be able to pick up my new car next weekend! I can't wait!! Va-va Voom, as the advert goes!
Gee...now I feel so lame...in my 94 Corolla...:}
