The English football season kicked off this weekend, with the teams of the Championship beginning their campaigns. The real deal however, doesn't start for me until when the Premier League kicks off next weekend.
As is usual, I've been drawn to the usual football score prediction sites.
Here are a couple of free sites that I've joined/will be joining that look kinda interesting:
Predict The Premiership
Does what it says on the tin - you predict the scores of English Premiership matches, simple as.
You start your career as a non-league predictor, but if your predictions are accurate you will quickly make it to the illustrious Premiership - the pinnacle of any predictor's career! But get too many scores wrong and you could be humiliated as you fail to rise from the bottom divisions. Guess where I'll be...
Golden-Goal
I don't think any of the above give out any prizes, although the BBC one might give out a prize for the overall winner. The Premier League will be providing thrills and spills in itself, but little competitions like these just spice things up nicely.
Golden-Goal
For each contest you have to predict three elements.
a) Predict the score of the Home team
a) Predict the score of the Home team
b) Predict the score of the Away Team
c) Allocate a priority number to match (1 for the game you're not sure about, 15 being the banker)
This site also includes services such as Live Scores, Live Player Tables and a Live Interactive Forum, for those into that kinda stuff.
BBC's Challenge Lawro
BBC's Challenge Lawro
Pitch your predictions against ex-Liverpool player and now BBC "pundit" Mark Lawrenson. Even I scored more points than he did last season. This competition isn't quite ready yet - it seems the first results to predict will be from games being played on Saturday 10 September 2005.
Tell Us The Score
Tell Us The Score
This one might interest the people who like the odd trip to the bookies for a flutter. As well as the footie prediction competition, the guys who run this site also provide actual betting "advice" on events varying from football, horse racing, golf and tennis.
