Forgive me if I'm basking in this glory - as a Liverpool fan,we have had little to celebrate these last 20 or so years. Hopefully, this is just the start of a return to the glory days!
There's only one song I'll be humming today and that's "You'll Never Walk Alone"!
Have to say it is a little disconcerting watching Liverpool matches when they start to sing "low lie the fields of Anfield Rd." I keep thinking I should be watching rugby :)
ReplyDeleteHey Forgottenmachine, I knew what you meant! :)
ReplyDeleteI got a great e-mail with a picture of Steven Gerrard holding the European Cup flanked by two policemen.
ReplyDeleteThe caption read "Honest, officer, I won it in a competition....."
Yeah yeah, Lord Bargain - I received that pic loads of times today! And in a way it's true - who would have believed it?? :)
ReplyDeletecongrats!
ReplyDeleteIt was a Great night for Liverpool and England.
ReplyDeleteI actually held that trophy aloft(well the last one) in the Anfield Trophy room, back in 1979 whilst on tour with my team, Plymouth Schools.
We lost to Liverpool schools 5.1 and drew with St Helens School 2.2 (game in which I scored) and stayed at the Liverpool YMCA near the Liver Birds.
Don't get too attached to it as my team will be there in 2 years time!
Come on you Greens!
